COMPETITION

2027 is the first competitive season. Professional telemetry replaces improvised tools, a racing team provides the operational backbone and the Tillotson T4 Ireland Championship delivers the proving ground.

The Campaign

The Tillotson T4 Ireland Championship Senior 168 class is the proving ground. Year one is not about results. It is about building the baseline that makes future results possible.

This is a rookie season: ten events across four Irish circuits and one international round, each one a controlled data collection opportunity. The goal is calibration, not trophies.

Data collection: telemetry baselines across all 10 events and 4 circuits
Benchmarking: lap time progression, sector splits and setup correlation per track
Race craft: starts, pack racing and race-day rhythm under competitive pressure

Stapleton Motorsport

A rookie campaign requires more than ambition. It requires the competitive infrastructure that only an established team can provide. Stapleton Motorsport brings chassis setup expertise, race-day logistics and setup optimization across different track conditions, letting the driver focus entirely on performance.

But the real value is harder to quantify. It is having an experienced crew beside you in the paddock, lending knowledge built across years of T4 competition, calm support when race-day pressure builds and the confidence that comes from knowing you are not out there alone. For a rookie driver, that backing is as important as any setup change.

The Upgrade

The preparation phase used RaceBox Mini, RaceChrono Pro and BoxBox for GPS-based post-session analysis. Competition demands real-time, on-kart data. The Alfano 7 professional data logger is the industry standard for karting telemetry, purpose-built hardware replacing the improvised preparation stack.

Real-time RPM: engine performance monitoring during sessions, not post-session extraction
GPS lap timing: integrated sector splits and lap delta displayed live on the steering column
Exhaust gas temperature: engine health and jetting optimization in real-time
G-force sensors: cornering loads, braking intensity and traction data

Why T4?

The Tillotson T4 was selected for its technical constraints, not despite them. The platform is built around the TPP-225RS: a 225cc 4-stroke engine producing 15 HP through a 72mm piston, governed by a PVL digital ignition with a hard rev limiter at 7,500 RPM. The engine is fully sealed. No internal modification is permitted. The only maintenance adjustment allowed is valve clearance. Parity is enforced at the hardware level.

The T4-C1 chassis is equally constrained: a hand-welded Ø30mm/2mm steel tube frame with a 1,050mm wheelbase, hydraulic braking through a Ø195mm ventilated floating rear disc and CIK-FIA homologated bodywork. When every kart on the grid runs identical hardware, the only differentiators are driver performance, setup optimization and data analysis. This is the environment where an engineering methodology has maximum leverage.

Engine: 225cc 4-stroke, 15 HP, sealed with rev limiter at 7,500 RPM, Noram Stinger race clutch
Chassis: Ø30mm steel tube, 1,050mm wheelbase, hydraulic Ø195mm ventilated disc brake
Weight: 168kg combined minimum (Senior 168 class, kart + driver)
Setup variables: caster/camber, ride height and gearing only. No engine modification
